Bangkok - British Club Terminate Agreement

bullet LAX - Bonaventure Hotel - 27/06/05

The Club has installed 3 new computer with internet connection in to the 'Crew Room'. The Committee would like to compliment and thank the Hotel and its' Staff, firstly for providing crew with the room and secondly for all the support and assistance individual staff has provided the Club's Committee in the installation of the DSL connection. The committee would like to remind members (& non members) that use this room that whilst you are away on company service you are required to conduct yourself in a professional manner and that all crew should not take such facilities, as the crew room as granted. This room is not part of any agreement and can be withdrawn at anytime should it prove needed.

Replacement of Big Screen TV in Auckland 30/03/2005

It is with thanks to the management of the Carlton Hotel in Auckland that the big screen plasma television has been replaced in the crew room there. It was after much discussion with the club that the hotel decided to replace the unit (with the same model as purchased by the club) at the hotel employees expense.

The new unit has now been structurally secured to the premises and should preclude a reoccurrence of the event, again we should thank the hotel management of the installation which was at no cost to the clubs membership.

The actual theft of the unit is still under investigation and anyone with information is requested to come forward.

Internet Access AKL - 06/07/2004

As some of the membership may be aware, the internet connection in Auckland has had considerable downtime over the past months. The Clubs' Committee do apologise for this but it has been due to a vast variety of factors beyond our control.

What most of the membership will not be aware of though is that despite this recent downtime, the internet connection in Auckland has on average cost the Club $700 to $1000 a month. This is due to the popularity of this service and the per megabyte fees incurred for the usage of the connection. In order to curtail this expenditure an alternate access provider was sourced. After much investigation and negotiation, the Club's Operations Manager & Committee have contracted a new internet provider and after numerous initial setbacks the connection is now up and running. Hopefully, this new provider will be saving the Club approximately, on average, $400 per month.

In addition to this financial saving, the new connection has the added benefit of having WiFi (wireless) internet access. Those members with wireless enabled laptop computers will be able to take their laptop to the crew room and directly access the internet, brief instruction can be viewed HERE. However, should this new feature be abused by certain unscrupulous members, this wireless access maybe withdrawn, without notice.

Also there have been other additions to the AKL crew room. There is now a 'Gaming' (4th) computer with 20+ games installed. This computer has joystick & steering wheel control. This computer does NOT have internet access and is for game play only. In addition, the TV and video player have both been replaced with a large widescreen plasma TV and DVD player. A large selection of DVD's is available from the Concierge, membership card required.

The Club's Committee hope that members will enjoy this new/improved benefit and your feedback and suggestions on other projects/ideas are always welcome. Remember it is your Club!

New Membership Cards - 12/06/2004

The 50th Anniversary of the Qantas Aircrew Club is coming, in order to commemorate this mile stone and improve security and accountability the Club will be issuing all members with a new membership card.

You can check your details, by doing a search on your staff number on the Member Search page.

If you find any errors, place enter your correct details on the Membership Personal Details Update Form or contact the Clubs' Operations Manager.

New Equipment & Services - 22/03/2004

As a result of a strict finical policy and a recovery of unauthorised expenditure the Club has a limited surplus of funds. In order to expend this excess of funds to the benefit of its' membership the Executive Committee has decided to increase gym subsidies, in some cases/slip ports to fully subsides the cost to members for gym access. Also, new services like free internet in Los Angeles & Singapore have either been negotiated or are being negotiated. In addition, new equipment like Yoga mats, after numerous requests, have also been added to certain slip ports, for detailed information see the Port Equipment A-Z page.

The Executive Committee is always looking for better ways to provide services and equipment to the membership... If you have a suggestion you feel would benefit the membership please feel free to contact us via the Suggestion Form. ALL SUGGESTION are considered, but are decided on their merit and practicality.

Los Angeles - "Free Bikes" - 12/01/2004

It appears that certain Club members are treating the bikes in Los Angeles like they were supplied to the Club free of charge. Contrary to this they are not, on average each bike costs between $300 & $400.

'Missing' bikes continue to be of the highest concern at this slip port, with the cost escalating in to the tens of thousands, since be relocated to Pasadena the Club has LOST 19 bikes. The Committee is asking all members in this port to be vigilante with the use of the bikes.

If any member observes misuse or negligence of any of the clubs equipment they are asked to contact the Club's Committee with details. ALL INFORMATION RECEIVED WILL BE TREATED IN THE STRICTEST CONFIDENCE.

We need your help to stop misuse & abuse of the equipment!

Los Angeles - Pasadena - 01/07/2003

Earlier this year the Club's Committee placed notices at each hotel in Pasadena as well as on this website regarding the bicycles stored at the hotels in Pasadena. This notice was in regard to the individual members responsibilities to prevent the damage and loss of bicycles.

This notice appears to be disregarded by a minority of Club members.

Missing  & damaged bikes continues to be of the utmost concern at this slip port, the cost continue to escalate in to the thousands, bikes needing replacement or repair on a weekly basis.

The Committee is asking all members slipping in this port to be vigilante with the use of the bikes and if any member observes misuse or negligence they are asked to contact the Club's Committee with details. ALL INFORMATION RECEIVED WILL BE TREATED IN THE STRICTEST CONFIDENCE.

The Committee would also like to point out that these ongoing costs are taking funds away from the Committee and there ability to provide and enhance other services to members.

Bangkok - British Club - 11/12/2002

Earlier this year the committee of the British Club in Bangkok decided not to allow Qantas and British Airways aircrews use of their clubhouse and facilities. 3. Each crew member to register at the security checkpoint in Silom Road Soi 18. The Suriwongse Rd entrance has been closed until further notice.

4. Qantas Aircrew Club card and Qantas photo ID are required.

5. After passing the security checkpoint you must register again at reception and pay a day rate of 300 baht per person or 500 baht per couple.

6. The club does not accept cash. All charges must be paid by credit card.

7. Crew members must follow all rules and regulations of the club including dress codes where applicable.

The General Committee of the British Club reserves the right to adjust or cancel these conditions without prior notice.

bullet Qantas Aircrew Club 'Open Day' -  07/10/2002

The first in a series of Qantas Aircrew Crew 'Open Days' was held on the 07/10/2002, (first day L/H Cabin Crew bid period), the 'Open Days' are being held at QCC1 in conjunction with our regular committee meetings, these Open Day's are to assist the committee better understand the clubs members immediate requests for the club as well as to help our member better understand the limitations the club has is providing for these requests. These days are also being held to answer any general questions as well as disperse many rumours members have about the club. As always the clubs 'books' will be available for inspection for any member that wishes to view them.

The first day was deemed only mildly successful as access to the main crew lounge was not available and main members where not aware of the day. This will no longer be of concern as access to the main lounge has been approved for our next 'Open Day'.

Remember... We need your constructive input to help us better run the club!

bulletQANTAS AIRCREW CLUB NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS - 07/08/2002

 Due to the high incidence of theft of club bikes recently the following rule shall apply;

Qantas Aircrew Club bikes should not be left unattended whilst in the care of members. The member may be held responsible for the replacement cost of the bicycle.

Twenty four bikes were transferred from Long Beach to Pasadena. Our latest stock take count is 14. Four new bikes were delivered in March to replace four that were reported stolen. Another was also reported stolen in early August. All reports from the crew members advised that the cable locks were used. We have ordered another eight new bikes for delivery mid August. Please return bikes to the same hotel. Often bikes are transferred from one hotel to another leaving shortfalls which is very annoying to other members. We have also received reports of members locking bikes in a secluded area of the hotel to use at their leisure or even taking bikes to their room for the duration of their slip. Any reports of this nature will be kept confidential and acted upon by the committee at their next meeting.

Melbourne Airport - DVD Player Replaced - 07/07/2002

After some week the DVD player at Melbourne Airport has been replaced. The reason for the delay in rectifying this situation was due to the fact that the Club's committee was never informed of the DVD player was faulty. Everyone assumed that someone had informed the Club committee, so the moral of the story... If you find something that is not right tell us... As we'd prefer to receive to much information than no information... And remember, It's your fees, your Club and ultimately YOUR equipment.

bulletBangkok - British Club Terminate Agreement

With the reduction of services through Bangkok we approached the management of the British Club asking for a reduction in the fee payable each year for membership. ($A4500). Without further consultation they advised us that the yearly fee would be scrapped and a 300 baht entry charge would apply to all aircrew using the facilities. In early July they once again contacted us and advised that the committee had decided to withdraw the right of any aircrew to use the club or its facilities unless they were introduced by a member. We have written to the committee asking for a review of the decision.
